There was a time when I did not know exactly where to find a good scale the would weigh a person over 400lbs. I was heart broken and angry all at the same time when I went into my local Walmart and only found scales up to 250lbs.

I have been receiving many emails from you guys asking me where to get a good scale from. I was told stories that are similar to mine and I totally understand how frustrating it is not to be able to weigh yourself at home in private. I know how much it sucks to have to go to the Hospital because your local clinic scales only go up to 300lbs. So to all you guys and gals who have sent me emails asking me where to find the scales that could handle people like us I heard you.

I have made a small list of a few really cool scales that I am sure you will love and support weights 400lbs and up!! I know we are all trying our best not to have to depend on scales that are made for folks our size for long but this is absolutely a start so you can monitor accurately your progress. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you guys with and remember I am still working on my weight and far from at my goal yet. So I do understand anyone else suffering from obesity sense I am living it right now with you. God bless you guys and here is my list..

Seca 769 Digital Fitness – Medical Scale, 450 lb / 200 kg Capacity – These are the same scales used in hospitals and fitness centers and is very trusted and well made. This scale can handle weight up to 450lbs and I have had the pleasure of trying this one out and I was very impressed.

A&D Medical UC-321PL Precision Scale with Wired Communication – This is one has an automatic calibration feature, light weight and only 1 inch thick so it will not take up to much space. I am sure you will enjoy this one. This scale has a high weight capacity of 450 lb (200 kg). The feature I love most is that this is compatible with Microsoft Healthvault via USB which in my eye adds value to this sleek scale. Mr. Meltdown LIKES!!! Sorry guys I am a true geek when it comes to weight loss gadgets and tech stuff!! LOL

Today I was kind of thinking about how could something that used to be fun turn into what seems like torture!

I can remember a time before I started this lifestyle, diet, body/make over. I was that chubby dude you see at the bakery section with a smile on his face tasting samples.

I WAS A FOOD OFFENDER AND NEEDED HELP!

Heck I will even admit that I used to go to the Costco at lunch time just for the tasty free samples they offered! Don’t act like you have not done it! LOL

Now that I am taking ownership of my bad habits and eat to live not the opposite, I sometimes still have my weak moments.

So to put an end to the temptations around me when I go shopping I have created this top 10 list.

Top 10 Things Not To Do When Food Shopping While On A Diet!

1. Don’t go shopping before you eat.

That is a setup for disaster, please believe me!

2. Don’t use the supermarket as a place for fitness!

I was guilty of this excuse to walk around the grocery store for 30 minutes of fitness. The only problem was I was so hungry after the workout I would buy back what I just worked off. So don’t do it!

3. Go Shopping Without A Grocery List!

This one is simple logic. If you don’t plan to succeed you plan to fail!

4. Buy Products Without Reading Labels!

I used to buy stuff and never read the sugar and fats contained in the products I purchased. So be very wise and read before you buy.

5. Don’t Take A Greedy Friend Along To Help You Shop

Even though your friends love you they sometimes buy what you want and can’t have. So don’t allow that kind of temptation to assist you.

6. Don’t Go On Reading Just The Calories To Buy A Product Read The Serving Size!

I used to read a products calories and think just because it is 70 calories per serving it was cool to eat. This is a trick so be careful folks! I found that yes some products may say 70 calories per serving for what seems to be a small innocent package. But the package also reads each package contains 10 servings. So if you eat the whole thing you would have consumed 700 calories thinking you only had 70 calories! (HELLO CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?)

7. Never Park Right Next To The Store!

I have been guilty of this also and now I am shamed. I have seen people including myself drive around the parking lot for 10 minutes because they where to lazy to walk. Now I park in the rear and get a extra few minutes of free cardio burn that helps shed the pounds. Plus the rear always has empty spots just try it yourself and see.

8. Never Eat The Free Samples!

Even though the samples they offer are small enough to look Innocent. Do you truly know the calories and sugars they are feeding you? Trust me people just say no!

9. Don’t Let The Clerk Check Your Stuff Out Do It Yourself!

This is another opportunity to burn some extra calories. Think of it as this clerk is stealing my mini workout! No way am I going to let anyone get more burn than me so I will bag it myself thank you.

10. Don’t Hit The Drive Through After Your Done Shopping!

This has always been an idiotic task. Why would you go shopping for food then hit the drive through? But for some reason that Micky D in the shopping plaza is always full right? Go figure!

Do you have any good shopping advice? Will you recommend this list to a food offender in need? This is not a list set in stone, so feel free to leave your own recommendations or suggestions.
